Allen County Commissioner Tom Williams will soon join the Kansas Attorney Generals office to lead fraud and abuse investigations.
The lead paragraph in a Wednesday article detailing Williamss new duties was vague enough that some thought he was investigating the AGs office itself.
Williams, who served as Allen County sheriff for eight years prior to being elected county commissioner in 2012, is leaving his county commission seat later this month to accommodate his new job.
Tom Williams has had a distinguished career in law enforcement, and Im delighted he has agreed to continue his contributions to public safety, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said in a news release. Toms wide range of experience will be a great asset to the attorney generals office as we work to increase our capacity to investigate and prosecute cases of fraud and abuse, particularly when those crimes are committed against Kansas seniors.
